In 1974, he ventured into commercial real estate, eventually managing the Git’N Go Markets convenience store chain, which is nationally recognized for its excellence.

Joe’s expertise in real estate development led him to become the largest developer of semi-rural industrial properties in the Southeast. He transitioned into commercial development, including multifamily residences and turnkey industrial properties. By 1997, his industrial building program expanded to several states, earning national accolades.

In 2003, Joe authored “The Southern Advantage,” highlighting the economic progress of the South. His company, The Hollingsworth Companies, now manages over 19 million square feet of industrial properties, focusing on semi-rural economic development across several Southeastern states. The company remains headquartered in Clinton, TN, continuing its legacy in industrial development and real estate management.
